LGBTQ+ SERVICES

Via Care is a federally qualified health center dedicated to providing quality healthcare and treatment for our lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/non-conforming community members in the East Los Angeles area. All of our locations are a safe, inclusive space for people to receive compassionate, accurate, non-judgmental, and culturally competent care.

We are also committed to providing care to all who need it, so we accept Medi-Cal and most major insurance plans. If you are uninsured, we have enrollers who can help you receive an insurance plan, or we have a sliding scale option that provides you with services for little to no cost.

You can always talk candidly and comfortably with our doctors and other providers, knowing that you’re receiving quality care, regardless of your ability to pay. Via Care offers medical, dental, and mental health services.

Via Care is committed to nondiscrimination for all persons seeking patient care, without regard to gender, age, race, color, national origin, religion, familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, veteran status, and any other categories protected by federal, state or local law.

What to Bring if You're Applying for Health Coverage

Your sexual health is our priority at Via Care, where you can always feel completely comfortable discussing whatever factors may be influencing your wellness.

  • Free Rapid HIV Testing, results in 15 minutes

  • HIV testing and prevention counseling

  • Safe sex kits (includes condoms, lube, etc.)

Via Care tests and treats for sexually transmitted infections (STIs). STIs are transmitted through vaginal, anal, and oral sex as well as sharing needles and childbirth. STIs are common and many are curable or treatable. Many people do not have or show symptoms of STIs which is why it’s important to get tested regularly.

PrEP and PEP are for those who do not have HIV, but may be at risk of contracting the virus. Via Care is committed to preventing HIV in our community through PrEP and PEP navigation, health education, and risk reduction counseling.

As the medical provider for Garfield High School, East LA Community College, and LA Trade Tech, we have programming and resources specifically for youth. The Youth Alliance for STIs and Substance Use (YASSS) program is a SAMHSA-funded program that operates within our LGBTQ Department.
